The False Heir and the Ledger of the Callahan Family Empire
“What happens now?” I asked.
“We have verified the documents in the ledger,” Harris said.
“The signatures on the trust transfer were forged by Julian Vance.”
“So the trust is void?” I asked.
“Legally, yes,” Harris said.
“The transfer of the Callahan estate to Victoria’s private LLC was fraudulent.”
“That means the original bylaws apply,” Adelaide added.
I looked at her, waiting.
“The bylaws state that if there is no living male heir,” Adelaide said.
“The estate passes to the first-born child of the direct line.”
“My daughter,” I said.
“Yes,” Adelaide said.
“Your daughter is the sole legal heir to the Callahan family empire.”
“But Victoria still has allies on the board,” I pointed out.
“Not for long,” Adelaide said.
“An emergency board meeting has been called for tomorrow morning.”
“Where?” I asked.
“At the corporate headquarters in Century City,” Adelaide said.
“They are going to vote to strip Victoria’s faction of all voting rights.”
“Can they do that?” I asked Harris.
“With the evidence we have,” Harris said.
“Yes.”
“The board needs a representative,” Adelaide said.
“Someone to present the legal challenge.”
