I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in my abdomen stopped me.

“Easy,” Adelaide said, rising and putting her hand on my shoulder.

“The doctor said you need to rest.”

“Is she okay?” I demanded.

“She is breathing on her own,” Adelaide said.

“She’s small, but the doctors are very optimistic.”

A wave of relief washed over me, leaving me trembling.

“And Victoria?” I asked.

Adelaide sat back down, her face darkening.

“In federal custody,” she said.

“They denied her bail.”

“And Julian?”

“The same,” Adelaide said.

“The federal prosecutors are calling it one of the largest identity theft and corporate fraud cases in the state’s history.”

She took a sip of her coffee.

“The video you broadcasted,” she continued.

“It has already been viewed millions of times.”

“The board,” I said.

“They couldn’t ignore it.”

Adelaide nodded slowly.

“They are in a panic,” she said.

“The Callahan stock is plunging, but the legitimate members are trying to save the company.”

“Which ones?” I asked.

“The faction led by Arthur and Thomas,” Adelaide said.

“They never trusted Victoria’s sudden rise to power.”
