“Get her out of here,” the paramedic said.
They lifted me onto a gurney.
The movement sent a sharp, tearing pain through my lower back.
I groaned and closed my eyes.
“The baby,” I managed to say.
“We’re taking you to Cedars-Sinai,” the paramedic told me.
“We have a neonatal team waiting.”
Beside the gurney, Agent Harris walked quickly, keeping his hand on the ledger.
