“He wasn’t keeping her happy,” Chloe spat. “He was with me. He’s always been with me.”
Victoria sighed, a sound of genuine boredom.
“Which is why you both have become such a tedious liability,” Victoria said.
“The federal agents are already searching Julian’s townhouse.”
“They will find the offshore ledger files in his safe, along with the wire transfer receipts.”
“And they will find your bodies here.”
My heart hammered against my ribs, a wild, frantic rhythm.
I tapped the screen once more, confirming the start of the stream.
A tiny, muffled beep sounded from my pocket, barely audible over the wind outside.
“What was that?” Harold asked, stopping his advance.
His eyes darted toward my coat.
“Nothing,” I said quickly, taking a step backward. “Just the wind.”

“Give me the physical book, Natalie,” Victoria said.
“If you hand it over now, I will ensure your child is taken care of.”
