“I’m looking at the docks right now from the warehouse.”

“Chloe’s car is here, and she’s meeting someone.”

“If she sees me, I’m dead.”

“Listen to me,” I said, keeping my voice steady and quiet.

“I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning at ten.”

“Westwood Women’s Clinic on Wilshire.”

“I’ll have the transfer codes then.”

“Bring the ledger to the clinic,” I said. “I’ll hand the drive to you myself.”

There was a long silence on the other end.

I could hear the sound of a distant foghorn across the water.

“Is this a trap, Natalie?” he asked.

“If I wanted you arrested, I would have given the police your safehouse address,” I said.

“I want Victoria gone just as much as you do.”

“She ruined my life, Julian.”

“Your real husband is dead,” he said coldly.

“I know,” I said, swallowing the lump in my throat.

“But you can help me finish this.”

“Ten o’clock,” he said.

“If I see a single patrol car, I’m gone.”

“And the ledger goes into the bay.”

The line clicked and went dead.

I slowly put the phone back in my bag.
