“She’s going to take the five million and leave the country.”

“She’s leaving me to take the fall for everything.”

I listened to his breathing, heavy and ragged.

“Why are you calling me, Julian?” I asked.

“I want to make a trade,” he said.

“I have the physical ledger.”

“The real one.”

“The one Victoria kept in her private wall safe.”

“I took it before I ran from the estate.”

“It has the original signatures for the Swiss payouts.”

“It proves Victoria ordered the drugs and paid the clinic.”

“And it has the routing numbers for the main Callahan family trust.”

“The eighty-million-dollar trust that Victoria locked after her father died.”

“I can give you the digital keys to unlock it,” he said.

“But I need something from you first.”

“I don’t have any money, Julian,” I said.

“You have the federal investigators,” he said.

“You have their trust.”

“I want immunity, Natalie.”

“And I want access to the secondary trust account before Victoria freezes it entirely.”

“That’s forty-eight hours from now.”

“If you get me that access, I’ll give you Victoria.”

“I’ll give you everything.”
