Arthur Bell leaned forward, his brow furrowing as he looked at the envelope.

“We conducted an internal review, Emma,” Arthur said. “Everything was accounted for.”

“You reviewed the books Grant showed you,” Lorna said, raising her voice. “You didn’t see the secondary accounts.”

Marcus reached into the envelope and pulled out a thick bound document with a blue cover.

“This audit was compiled by an independent firm over the last seventy-two hours,” Marcus said.

He slid the blue binder across the polished wood to Miller.

“It details forty-two separate wire transfers from our endowment fund to an offshore shell company,” Marcus said.

“That is a lie,” Grant said, his voice rising an octave. “Those were authorized consulting fees.”

“Authorized by whom?” Lorna asked, staring him down.

“By the executive committee,” Grant said, pointing a finger at her.

“I am on the executive committee, Grant,” Lorna said. “I never saw those invoices.”

Marcus reached back into the envelope and pulled out a second, thinner document.

It was stamped with a red notary seal on the bottom right corner.

“This is a signed, notarized confession from Vanessa Hart,” Marcus said.
