“Oh, thank god,” Dina breathed. “Open it.”

I gripped the small T-handle and turned it to the right.

The heavy door swung upward on its hinges, revealing a dark, carpeted interior.

Inside lay a black, padded nylon pouch and a thick manila envelope.

I reached in and pulled the pouch out first.

It felt heavy, containing something hard and rectangular.

I unzipped it to find a ruggedized external hard drive and two flash drives.

“What is in there, Emma?” Dina asked.

“A hard drive and two USB sticks,” I said, pulling out the manila envelope next.

I opened the envelope and slid out several sheets of paper.

They were bank confirmation letters from an institution in Grand Cayman.

“These are transfer receipts,” I said, squinting in the dim light of the closet.

“Whose names are on them?” Dina asked.

I held the papers closer to my face, using the light from my phone screen.

“Grant’s,” I said, my throat tightening. “And Helen’s.”

“There are millions of dollars listed here, Dina.”

“We need to see what is on those drives,” Dina said.
