*The proxy votes are shifting.*

I leaned over to my attorney, who was taking notes on a legal pad.

“They are convening the board,” I whispered.

He nodded slowly, not looking up from his writing.

“They have to,” he said in a low voice.

“If they don’t remove him now, the Department of Justice will freeze all Prescott Global assets by morning.”

I looked back at Callum.

He was staring at his phone now, his thumb moving frantically across the screen.

He must have received the same notification.

His face had gone from red to an ashen, grey color.

He looked like a man who had just watched his house slide into the ocean.

“Your Honor,” Mr. Sterling said, his voice sounding thin and exhausted.

“In light of these disclosures, the defense requires a brief recess to consult with our client.”

“We need to address these new allegations before we proceed with the custody arguments.”

Judge Mallory looked at her watch.

“We will recess for lunch,” she said.

“We will reconvene at two o’clock sharp.”

“And Mr. Sterling, I suggest you advise your client that his standing before this court is rapidly deteriorating.”
