Callum’s expression did not change, but his fingers twitched against the mahogany table.

Vivian shifted slightly in her seat, her gaze dropping to her lap.

“I am granting Mr. Voss’s motion to withdraw,” Judge Mallory announced, striking her gavel once.

The sharp crack made Callum flinch.

“Furthermore, based on the evidence presented in this binder, I am issuing an immediate, temporary federal protection order,” Judge Mallory said.

She signed a document on her desk and handed it to her clerk.

“Mr. Prescott, you are to have absolutely no contact with Avery Prescott, direct or indirect,” she said.

“You will remain at least five hundred feet away from her at all times.”

“Your Honor, she is carrying my child,” Callum pleaded, taking a step toward the bench.

“If you violate this order, you will be arrested immediately,” Judge Mallory said, her voice cutting through his protest.

“Where is she going to stay?” Callum demanded, turning his glare toward me. “She cannot hide in a hotel forever.”

I stood up slowly, holding the edge of the table for support.
