Callum sank back into his chair, his face turning a sickly shade of gray.
“In light of these developments,” Judge Mallory said, “the respondent’s petition for emergency custody is denied.”
She struck her gavel once, the sound sharp as a gunshot.
“Furthermore,” she continued, “the court is granting the petitioner’s motion for an emergency asset freeze.”
Vivian let out a sharp gasp, her hand flying to her throat.
“All personal and corporate accounts tied to the Prescott Global trust are frozen,” the judge said.
“Pending a full forensic audit of the family estate.”
She looked at Callum with cold disdain.
“This court is adjourned,” Judge Mallory said, rising from her seat.
The bailiff escorted her out the side door, leaving the room in chaos.
Callum turned to Voss, but the attorney was already packing his leather briefcase.
