“Let’s take it back to the hospital,” Vale said quietly. “We have what we need here.”
We walked back to the staff car, the heavy wooden chest secured in the trunk of the investigator’s vehicle.
The drive back was silent, the digital recorder resting heavily in my palm.
Once back in the private room of the maternity ward, Naomi was waiting for us.
