The Decorated Officer Who Reclaimed Her Family Inheritance and Protected Her Child
“This is civilian property, General,” Grant sneered, though he took a half-step back. “You have no jurisdiction here.”
“I have a duty to protect my officer,” Vale replied. “And right now, you are a threat to her safety and the safety of her child.”
“I’m her husband!” Grant yelled, his hands clenching into fists. “I own half of everything she has!”
“You own nothing,” Naomi said, lowering her phone. “The court just issued an emergency temporary restraining order. You are barred from this hospital, and you are barred from the Alexandria property.”
Grant laughed, a harsh, desperate sound that didn’t reach his eyes.
“That property is mine,” he said. “The paperwork is filed.”
“The paperwork you forged is being reviewed by a federal prosecutor,” Naomi said calmly. “And we’ve already notified the bank to freeze the accounts associated with the Langley trust.”
At the mention of the trust, Grant’s expression hardened.
He looked past the General, his eyes searching mine with a mixture of anger and panic.
“You think you’re so smart, Tessa,” he said, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. “You think your little military title makes you untouchable.”
