The Crimson Seal and the Shadow of the Obsidian Lounge
I tapped the screen, writing a short script to search for corresponding deposits in Marcus’s private accounts.
Five minutes later, the results compiled.
A series of shell companies based in Panama had deposited three million dollars into Marcus’s Cayman account.
The shell companies were registered to a parent conglomerate named Valetti Holdings.
The Valetti family was the rival syndicate Vincent had been fighting for months.
They were funding Derek’s hunt for me in exchange for Vincent’s financial keys.
I realized something else as I stared at the transaction ledger.
The Valetti family had pooled almost all their liquid assets into a single, vulnerable transit account to facilitate this takeover.
If Vincent knew this, he wouldn’t just stop the leak.
He could use Marcus’s own corrupted terminal to reverse the flow. He could freeze the Valetti accounts entirely.
He could paralyze them before they even knew they were compromised.
But a cold dread settled in my stomach.
Derek wasn’t a fool.
He would know the moment the link went dark.
And if he lost his leverage over Vincent’s finances, he would resort to his old patterns.
