“My men know how to fight, Clara,” Vincent said, walking toward the window.
He stared out into the dark, rainy night, his hands clasped behind his back.
“If Borza wants to use your pathetic ex-boyfriend to start a war, I will finish it.”
Suddenly, a sharp, high-pitched chime cut through the air.
It came from the security console mounted on the wall near the door.
A yellow warning light began to pulse rhythmically, casting a pale glow across the room.
Leo quickly tapped the earpiece in his ear, his face turning pale.
“Boss,” Leo said, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper.
“What?” Vincent demanded, turning around instantly.
“The silent alarm at warehouse four just went off,” Leo said, staring at his tablet.
“They aren’t coming here.”
“They just hit our first shipment.”
Leo’s fingers flew across the tablet screen.
The yellow warning light on the wall shifted to a steady, angry red.
“Is it Borza?” Vincent asked, his voice flat and deadly.
“Yes, boss,” Leo replied, looking up with a tense frown. “A delivery truck was intercepted two miles outside the docks. They used spike strips and heavy weapons.”
