Victor shook his head, his chest rising and falling rapidly.
“No,” he said. “No, we signed the papers at the kitchen table.”
“You signed a draft,” I said.
“I never filed the transfer paperwork.”
“I kept the original in my safe deposit box.”
“You were too busy buying real estate in Miami to notice.”
Victor looked at Nathan.
“Nathan, tell her,” Victor pleaded. “We built this together.”
Nathan looked down at his coffee cup.
“You built it on her work, Victor,” Nathan said quietly.
“And then you tried to sell it out from under us.”
“I have nothing to say to you.”
Victor slumped back in his chair.
The chains rattled loudly against the mahogany table.
He looked incredibly small in the orange jumpsuit.
The illusion of the powerful CEO was completely gone.
“This means the company’s valuation remains intact,” Evelyn noted, writing on her pad.
“But Victor’s personal share value is zero.”
“He has no assets left to negotiate with.”
Ross looked at his client and sighed.
“We need a moment to confer,” Ross said.
“There is no moment to take, Mr. Ross,” Evelyn said.
