I pulled the blue binder from my bag and set it flat on the wood.
Nathan looked at the binder, his eyebrows furrowing.
“Is that the original filing?” he asked.
“It is,” I said.
“This changes everything for the board,” Nathan said, taking a step closer.
“If you own the core technology, Victor has no leverage left to negotiate his settlement.”
“That is exactly the point,” I said.
“The board is holding an emergency meeting at three o’clock,” Evelyn said.
“Once we present this, they will formally strip Victor of his remaining shares.”
“They want you to take over as majority owner, Claire.”
“And they want Nathan as the new CEO.”
Nathan looked at me, his expression serious.
“I will only do it if we rebuild the company the way we originally planned,” he said.
“Without the shell companies.”
“Without the lies.”
“I agree,” I said.
The heavy wooden door opened, and two armed federal marshals stepped inside.
Behind them came Victor.
He was wearing a bright orange jumpsuit that looked far too large for his thin frame.
His wrists were handcuffed to a chain wrapped around his waist.
