“The company needs me.”

“The board is holding an emergency meeting on Monday.”

Evelyn Price stepped forward, her heels clicking on the stone floor.

“The board has already voted, Victor,” she said.

“Your suspension is now a permanent termination for cause.”

“We are clawing back your stock options.”

“We are also canceling your severance package.”

Victor looked at her as if she were speaking a foreign language.

“You can’t cancel my stock,” he said.

“I built this company.”

“You built a house of cards on a foundation of fraud,” Evelyn said.

She reached into her assistant’s briefcase and pulled out a manila folder.

She did not hand it to him.

She simply held it against her chest.

“The SEC has already been notified,” she said.

“They have assigned an investigative team to review the rest of the restructuring documents.”

“They are particularly interested in the transfer of the Seattle logistics facility.”

Victor’s breath hitched.

The Seattle facility was the crown jewel of the new expansion.

It was also the property he had used as collateral for his personal loans.

“That was a standard transaction,” he said.
