The Cost of Erasing the Woman Who Built Your Entire Empire
“Caleb, help me out here,” Grant said, turning to his partner.
“We’ve been friends for ten years.”
“This is business, Grant,” Caleb said.
“You stole from the project.”
“You stole from my investment.”
Caleb pulled a gold fountain pen from his breast pocket and laid it on the table.
“If you don’t sign, I will join Vivian in filing the fraud charges,” Caleb said.
“I have a duty to my shareholders.”
Lila looked between Grant and Caleb, her eyes wide with sudden panic.
“Grant, do something,” she whispered.
“They can’t take the Laguna condo.”
“Shut up, Lila,” Grant snapped.
He looked down at the document in front of him.
His hand was shaking slightly as he reached for the pen.
“You’re ruining me, Vivian,” he said.
“You’re taking everything I built.”
“You didn’t build it,” I said.
“You just stood in front of the cameras.”
Grant picked up the pen.
He signed his name on the line marked *Transferor*.
He pushed the document toward me.
I took the pen and signed my own name under *Transferee*.
Diane took the papers, stamped them with her notary seal, and slipped them into her briefcase.
