“You need to leave now. The police are at the front gate of the estate.”

I did not say a word, holding my breath.

“Grant?” she asked, her voice faltering slightly. “Is that you?”

“He’s not here, Margaret,” I said.

The line went completely silent for several seconds.

“Nora,” she whispered, her voice laced with venom.

“You ruined my family.”

“Your son did that himself,” I said.

“You think you’ve won,” she said, her voice shaking with rage.

“But he has things you don’t know about. He has the offshore keys.”

“We already found them,” I said, looking at the laptop screen where Vance’s team was finishing the data transfer.

A loud crash echoed from the hallway outside the office.

One of the federal agents at the door yelled.

“We’ve got a breach on the back elevator!”

The federal agent nearest the door drew his sidearm.

“Stay back, Nora,” Vance said, pulling me toward the corner of the office.

The sound of shattering wood echoed from the corridor.

One of Vance’s security team members sprinted past the glass partition, his boots squeaking on the polished hardwood.
