“The hospital, and Hensley.”
“No,” I said, staring at him.
“We have one target. Luca.”
“If we do not stop Hensley now, we lose our only leverage against Marcus,” Giovanni argued.
He took his phone back out.
“I can send a team to the hospital to secure the basement and help Sullivan.”
“And I will go after Hensley myself.”
“No,” I said, my voice shaking but firm.
“You are not going after her alone.”
“I am coming with you.”
“Lauren, it is too dangerous,” Giovanni said, his voice rising.
“I don’t care,” I said.
“She is the one who did this to my baby.”
“I want to look her in the eyes when she realizes she didn’t get away with it.”
Giovanni stared at me, his eyes wide with a mixture of surprise and concern.
For a second, the hard mask of the mafia boss slipped, revealing the terrified father underneath.
“If we do this, we do it my way,” he warned.
“No,” I said, locking eyes with him.
