“The plate belongs to a rental company used by Vance’s shell corporation.”
Giovanni’s face went completely dark.
“She is running,” he said.
“Or she is meeting Marcus,” I whispered, the fear rising in my throat like bile.
“Or both,” Giovanni said.

“She is moving fast,” Giovanni said, his voice flat and deadly again.
“If she gets to Marcus, he will hide her.”
“We will never get her to talk.”
“And Luca?” I asked, my voice rising.
“What is happening to my baby?”
“Dr. Sullivan is doing everything he can,” Marco said, his eyes darting between Giovanni and me.
“But he said the machinery in the pediatric ward experienced a sudden power surge.”
