The thunder that followed shook the glass in the windows.
In that split second, Silvio pulled the document from the envelope and flipped it open.
His eyes scanned the page.
I watched his face change from suspicion to absolute anger.
“This isn’t what you told us, Leo,” Silvio said, his voice dropping to a growl.
“It’s a forgery,” Leo said quickly, his grip tightening on his gun.
“It has the family seal,” Silvio said, holding the paper up. “And Thomas Kelly’s signature as the witness.”
Silvio looked at me, then back at the paper.
“It says here that if anything happens to Dominic, the estate goes to the twins, with me as the guardian,” Silvio said. “Not you, Leo.”
Leo’s eyes darted to the guard, then back to Silvio.
“He was out of his mind when he wrote that,” Leo said.
“He was perfectly sane,” I said. “He wanted to keep them away from you.”
Leo turned his gun from Silvio and pointed it directly at my chest.
“I should have left you in the diner,” Leo said.
