The Bloodline Inheritance That Kept My Daughter From Her Millionaire Father
Nathan looked at the documents, then at the empty safe, and finally at me.
The tension in his shoulders seemed to melt away, leaving him looking tired but incredibly relieved.
“It’s over,” Nathan said, taking both of my hands in his. “He can’t hurt us anymore, Emily.”
“No,” I said, a tear finally escaping and slipping down my cheek. “He can’t.”
“I want to make this right,” Nathan said, his eyes bright with sincerity. “I want us to be a family. A real one, away from his shadow.”
“We will be,” I said, pressing my forehead against his chest. “We have all the time in the world now.”
Mr. Hayes gathered the documents and placed them carefully inside his briefcase.
“I will deliver these to the district attorney personally,” Mr. Hayes said, giving us a polite nod. “Congratulations, Emily. You fought for your daughter, and you won.”
“Thank you, Mr. Hayes,” I said.
We watched him leave the study, his footsteps fading down the hallway.
Outside, the rain had stopped, and the clouds were beginning to part, letting a soft, golden light filter through the trees of the estate.
Nathan held my hand tight as we walked out of the house and back to the car.
We were going back to the apartment to pack my things, and then we were going to bring Lily to her new home.
The legacy of the Whitmore family was no longer a curse of greed and secrets.
It was a future of promise, and it belonged entirely to my daughter.
