“The only thing that will destroy this company is you,” Nathan said.

He turned his gaze to Mr. Hayes, who sat stiffly at the end of the table.

“Mr. Hayes,” Nathan said.

The attorney looked up, his face pale under the office lights.

“Yes, Nathan?”

“I want a full, independent forensic audit of my father’s corporate accounts,” Nathan said.

“Starting from the first quarter of last year.”

“Every expense, every wire transfer, every offshore account linked to his name.”

Richard took a step forward, his fists clenching at his sides.

“You have no authority to order that without board approval,” Richard snapped.

“I am the majority shareholder,” Nathan said calmly.

“I will call an emergency board meeting for tomorrow morning.”

“Until then, your access to the corporate servers is suspended.”

“I will have security escort you from the building if necessary.”

Richard looked as though he had been struck.

His cheeks, usually flushed with a self-important redness, turned a dull, chalky gray.

He looked at me, his eyes cold and full of hatred.

I did not look away.
