“Call Agent Vance with the FBI,” Ryker ordered. “Tell him we have Voss on the hook.”
Marco nodded once and pulled out his own phone.
“What is your plan?” I asked.
“Voss is arrogant,” Ryker said, walking toward his private study. “He thinks he has won. When he thinks he has won, he talks.”
I followed him into the study.
The room was dark, smelling of old leather and polished wood.
Outside, a cold Chicago wind rattled the glass windowpanes.
“We need to get him to admit to his crimes,” Ryker said, sitting behind his desk. “On tape.”
“A federal wiretap,” I said, realizing his strategy.
“Exactly,” Ryker said. “The FBI has been investigating his financial dealings for months. They just need a solid confession to tie him to the fraud.”
