“Let them try,” Ryker muttered.
The phone on the desk buzzed, the screen lighting up with an unknown number.
Ryker grabbed it instantly. “Speak.”
“I have her,” Marco’s voice came through, muffled. “We are in the back of a delivery van. I had to hotwire it.”
“Are you followed?” Ryker asked.
“No,” Marco said. “But Vivian is bleeding. She caught some glass from the window.”
“Is it bad?”
“A deep cut on her arm. She’s in shock,” Marco said. “She’s babbling about Voss. She says he has her son.”
I stepped closer to the phone. “Marco, did she sign the papers?”
“No,” Marco said. “The table was blown to pieces before she could put pen to paper. The documents are gone, Tessa. They burned in the room.”
I closed my eyes, a cold knot forming in my stomach.

“Bring her here,” Ryker said. “We have a medical kit in the safe room.”
