The man did not answer me, but his eyes shifted to me for a fraction of a second.

“Voss is a lawyer,” Ryker said, his voice flat. “He doesn’t command mercenaries.”

“Voss has friends,” the man said. “Very expensive friends.”

Ryker bent down, grabbing the man by the collar of his tactical vest.

He pulled him up until the man’s shoulders were off the floor.

“How did you bypass my perimeter?” Ryker asked.

The man laughed again, a wet, rattling sound. “You have a leak, billionaire. A big one.”

Ryker’s grip tightened on the vest, his knuckles turning white.

“Ryker,” I said, placing a hand on his shoulder. “We need him alive. And we need to get Lily and Owen to the inner secure room.”

Ryker looked up at me, his eyes dark with a protective fury I had never seen in him before.

Then he slowly let go of the man’s vest, letting him drop back to the floor with a hard thud.

“Watch him,” Ryker told me.

He walked to the wall behind his desk and pressed his thumb against a concealed biometric scanner.
