The directory names were filled with financial codes, offshore routing numbers, and corporate entities.

“Look at the dates,” Ryker said, pointing a finger at the screen. “These go back five years. Right up to the month she vanished.”

“What is all this?” I asked, looking at the endless columns of numbers.

“It’s a ledger,” Tessa said, her voice dropping to a whisper. “A shadow ledger of the Steel family trusts.”

She clicked on a folder labeled *Discrepancies*.

Inside were scanned bank drafts, each bearing a forged signature of Ryker’s late father.

“He was draining them,” Ryker said, his voice dangerously calm. “Gideon.”

“This isn’t just a few thousand dollars,” Tessa said, scrolling down. “This is hundreds of millions. She found out.”

“She didn’t just find out,” I added, looking at a file at the bottom of the list. “She documented everything.”

At the very bottom of the directory was a video file.

It was titled *For_Ryker.mp4*.

“Play it,” Ryker said.

Tessa clicked the file.

A media player opened, but before the video could buffer, the power in the room suddenly cut out.

The lamps died.
