“And Tony walks away with my wealth while the feds tear themselves apart trying to find the mole,” Vincenzo said.

“Exactly,” I said. “The investigation into your syndicate dies instantly in the scandal.”

The progress bar on the USB drive beeped twice, flashing green.

*Transfer Complete.*

I reached out and yanked the drive from the slot, shoving it deep into the pocket of my damp maid uniform.

“We have to get to the docks,” I said.

“We won’t make it past the lobby,” Vincenzo said, gesturing toward the door. “Tony’s men are locking down the exits.”

“We take the utility tunnels,” I said. “They run under the server room.”

I clicked back to the main system directory, intending to clear my search history.

But a flashing notification in the system alert log caught my eye.

“What is that?” Vincenzo asked, leaning closer.

I opened the secure encrypted message log.

The message was an automated transfer alert from the county jail database.

“It’s a bail authorization,” I said, reading the screen. “And a records expungement.”

I scrolled down to the name on the file.

*Marcus Vargas.*
