I found his phone and pulled it out.

The screen showed the name *Gregory*.

“Answer it,” Arthur commanded. “Put it on speaker.”

I slid my thumb across the screen and held the phone between us.

Gregory’s voice came through, thin and panicked.

“Boss? Boss, are you there?”

“I’m here,” Arthur growled. “What is it?”

“The alarms at the docks just went off,” Gregory said.

“Not the local ones. The network security console is red.”

“Every terminal in the main office just logged us out.”

“We can’t get back into the system.”

“The screens are just showing a black page with a seal.”

Arthur’s grip on my arm slackened slightly.

“What seal, Gregory?” he whispered.

“The Department of Justice,” Gregory said.

“And Boss? There are black SUVs turning onto the driveway at the estate right now.”

“I can see them from the security monitors.”

“There are dozens of them.”

“What do we do, Boss? What do we do?”

Arthur did not answer.

His mouth hung open, his lips pale and dry.

Julian stepped closer to the kitchen counter, his eyes fixed on Arthur’s face.
