He picked up a pen and pulled a sheet of heavy legal parchment from his drawer.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“I am writing an agreement,” Blake said. “A binding, irrevocable custody agreement.”

He began to write in his neat, precise cursive.

I stood beside the desk, watching the words appear on the page.

*I, Blake Harrington, hereby relinquish any and all claims to sole custody of Leo, Toby, and Sam Winters,* he wrote.

*I acknowledge Emma Winters as the primary custodial parent with full final decision-making authority,* the document continued.

He wrote for several minutes, his pen scratching softly against the thick paper.

He stopped and looked up at me. “I want joint legal custody, Emma. But only so I can support them.”

“No court battles?” I asked.

“Never again,” Blake said. “This document will state that any attempt by me or my family to seek sole custody instantly forfeits my trust fund to the boys.”

“Your mother will fight this,” I said.

“She cannot fight a contract signed with my own hand and witnessed by my legal counsel,” Blake said.
