“The truth,” I said. “The real reasons behind our divorce. The reasons I had to hide our sons.”

Blake walked over to the desk, his movements hesitant.

“I know why we divorced, Emma,” he said, his voice tightening. “You walked away. You took the money and left.”

“I didn’t take a dime, Blake,” I said. “And I didn’t walk away because I wanted to.”

He reached out, his hand hovering over the folder.

“My mother showed me the bank transfers,” he said. “She showed me the signatures.”

“Open it,” I said.

Blake opened the folder.

His eyes scanned the first page, a document bearing the letterhead of a Swiss bank.

“This is the account,” he said. “The one you used.”

“Look at the date of the signature verification,” I said. “And then look at the second page.”

He turned the sheet.

The second page was an internal audit memo from Harrington Enterprises, dated three weeks before our separation.

It was signed by Helena’s personal secretary.

It detailed the creation of a shell company designed to mimic my maiden name.
