Sienna reached for the pen Naomi offered.
Before her fingers could touch it, the heavy metal doors of the terminal entrance swung open.
Two men in dark suits stepped inside, their eyes instantly scanning the room.
One of them pointed directly at us.
“They’re here,” Sienna gasped, her face turning completely white.
She dropped the USB drive.
It skittered across the wet floor, stopping right at the edge of the dark drop-off to the water below.
I lunged forward.
My knees hit the cold, wet concrete.
My fingers scraped against the metal casing of the USB drive just as it tipped over the edge.
I squeezed my eyes shut, my hand clenching around the cold metal.
“Get her,” one of the men shouted, his heavy footsteps echoing through the terminal.
Naomi grabbed Sienna’s arm, pulling her toward the side exit.
“This way, Amelia!” Naomi yelled.
I scrambled to my feet, tucking the drive deep into my coat pocket.
The men were running now, their leather shoes slapping against the wet floor.
We burst through the heavy fire exit door into the freezing Seattle rain.
