“Good,” Naomi said, her voice cool and professional. “Did Grant try to stop you?”

“He didn’t even notice,” I said. “Sienna showed up at the gates. They were all in the study, screaming at each other.”

“Excellent timing,” Naomi said. “Where are you going?”

“A small motel near the airport,” I said. “I paid in cash last week under my sister’s name.”

“Smart,” Naomi said. “Stay there. Do not post anything online, and do not answer your phone if Grant calls.”

“He’s going to panic when he realizes we’re gone,” I said.

“Let him panic,” Naomi replied. “He will try to apologize, Amelia. He will tell you he loves you, that Sienna means nothing, and that you need to protect the family name.”

“I know,” I said, a bitter taste in my mouth. “He only cares about his standing in the firm.”

“Exactly,” Naomi said. “He needs a stable family image for the upcoming partnership vote. He will promise you the world to get you to come back.”

“I’m never going back,” I said.

“I know,” Naomi said. “And tomorrow morning, we make sure he can’t fight back.”
