“Yes, near the old stone wall,” he said. “Eleanor told me she hid a duplicate copy of the easement there.”

“In the stone wall?” I asked.

“In a weatherproof capsule inside the foundation stone,” Arthur said. “She knew Graham would search the house.”

“Why didn’t you tell me this before?” I asked.

“I was afraid,” Arthur said. “Graham has a lot of influence in this county.”

“We need to get that document before tomorrow morning,” I said.

“It is getting dark,” Arthur said, looking out the window at the graying sky. “And the weather is turning bad.”

“I don’t care,” I said. “If I don’t have that document at the meeting tomorrow, I have no leverage.”

My phone buzzed in my hand.

I looked down at the screen.

It was a text from Harper.

*The meeting is set for 10:00 AM at the registry office. Cypress Meridian’s lead representative, Marisol Keene, will be there.*

I stared at the name.

Marisol Keene.

“Arthur,” I said. “Do you know a Marisol Keene?”

Arthur’s face went completely pale.

“Marisol?” he whispered. “She was Eleanor’s estranged sister’s daughter.”
