“Marissa?” Arthur asked, stepping closer. “What did she say?”
“She’s coming for Rowan,” I whispered. “She’s trying to take him.”
“She can’t do that,” Arthur said. “The evidence is against them.”
“She has money, Arthur,” I said, a wave of panic washing over me. “She has connections. She’s going to lie.”
“Then we tell the truth,” Arthur said, his eyes firm. “And we fight.”
I looked back at Rowan, sleeping peacefully in his incubator.
He looked so innocent, completely unaware of the storm gathering around him.
