“What does this mean for Landon?” I asked.

“It means felony child abuse and neglect charges,” Harris said. “And reckless endangerment.”

“And Patricia?” Arthur asked.

“We’re looking into her level of involvement,” Harris said. “But right now, Landon is the one who executed the commands.”

I looked down at my hands, which were still trembling slightly.

“I need to get back to the hospital,” I said. “I need to be with my baby.”

“I’ll drive you,” Arthur said immediately.

“Thank you, Arthur,” I said, offering him a weak smile.

“Before you go, Marissa, there’s something else,” Harris said, looking up from his screen.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Your attorney, Mr. Vance, called the station’s main line,” Harris said. “He’s preparing the petition for the emergency custody hearing.”

“We need to file it immediately,” I said. “Landon can never be near Rowan again.”

“With these hospital records and the digital forensics, you have a very strong case,” Harris said. “The court will see a clear, documented pattern of deliberate neglect.”

“It wasn’t just neglect,” I said. “It was a trap.”

“We’ll make sure the judge understands that,” Harris said.
