“Exactly,” Patricia said, opening the front door. “A few days of silence will do her some good.”

“Besides, the flight leaves in three hours, and the weather in Nassau is perfect.”

They walked out, and the heavy oak door clicked shut behind them.

The video kept running, showing the empty hallway and the quiet house where I lay trapped.

I stared at the black screen after the clip ended, my chest tightening.

“They knew,” I whispered. “They knew I could not get help.”

“This footage proves they knowingly stripped you of your means of communication and transport.”

“Especially with a newborn who was already showing signs of respiratory distress,” he added.

“What happens now?” I asked, wiping a hot tear from my cheek.

“The detective is drafting an emergency warrant for Landon’s arrest,” Harris said.

“And we are going to contact him immediately.”

“He is in the Bahamas,” I said, looking down at Rowan. “He will not come back just because you ask.”
