How My Husband Planned My Ruin and Built His Own Downfall
“We have the divorce filing ready, along with a petition for the immediate transfer of Jared’s voting shares.”
Arthur blinked, looking from me to Marcus.
“The voting shares?” Arthur asked. “That would give her fifty-one percent control of Harlan Media.”
“Exactly,” Marcus said.
“It is either that, or the company goes bankrupt with Jared.”
Arthur looked back at the empty stage where the giant screens were now dark.
He nodded slowly, the color returning to his face.
“I will contact the other board members,” Arthur said. “We will meet in the executive conference room in one hour.”
I thanked him and watched him walk away toward the elevators.
My phone vibrated again in my hand, a long, steady pulse.
I looked down, expecting another update from the police.
Instead, it was an incoming call from an unlisted number.
I pressed the phone to my ear.
“Shelby,” a voice said.
It was a woman’s voice, low and breathless.
“You think you’ve won,” she said, her voice shaking.
I paused, listening to the static on the line.
“Who is this?” I asked.
“Look out the window,” the voice replied.
