How My Husband Locked Me Out and Ended Up Losing Everything
“That leaves me with nothing,” Brent said, his voice rising.
“It leaves you out of prison,” Jennifer said.
Mr. Vance picked up the document and read through it quickly.
His expression remained neutral as his eyes moved down the pages.
“If he signs this, do you agree to sign the non-prosecution request for the district attorney?” Mr. Vance asked.
“Yes,” Jennifer said. “We will notify the DA that the civil matter has been settled to our satisfaction.”
“Tessa, you can’t do this,” Brent said. “I built that estate with you.”
“You tried to sell my pre-marital property behind my back,” I said. “You let your mother and sister move into my home while I was in the hospital.”
Brent looked at his lawyer.
“Vance, tell them we won’t sign it,” Brent said. “We’ll go to court.”
Mr. Vance leaned down and whispered something in Brent’s ear.
Brent’s face paled.
He looked back at the document on the table.
“If you don’t sign today,” Jennifer said, “the police will serve the warrant tomorrow morning.”
I watched Brent’s fingers twitch against the mahogany table.
