How My Husband Locked Me Out and Ended Up Losing Everything
“I’m just getting started,” he said.
I stepped back into the hallway and opened the door wider.
“Jennifer,” I called out. “Could you come here, please?”
Jennifer stood up from the living room sofa, holding the black folder in her left hand.
She walked into the foyer, her heels clicking softly on the tile, her expression completely serene.
Brent’s eyes narrowed as he recognized her.
“What is she doing here?” he demanded, his voice dropping an octave.
“This is a family matter, Tessa.”
“Actually, Mr. Vance, it is a legal matter,” Jennifer said, her voice cool and professional.
She opened the black folder and pulled out a stapled document with a blue backing page.
“Do you recognize this?” she asked, holding it up so he could see the title.
Brent squinted at the paper, his head tilting slightly in the dim light.
“What is that?” he muttered.
“This is the prenuptial agreement you signed on October twelfth,” Jennifer said.
“Three weeks before your wedding day.”
Brent’s face went momentarily pale, but he quickly recovered, his chest puffing out again.
