“They want the property as-is, furniture included,” Jennifer said. “They are an investment group looking to add to their portfolio immediately.”

Molly looked at me, her eyes wide.

“Is that legal? Can we move that fast?” I asked.

“Since the house is solely in your name and there is no mortgage, yes,” Jennifer said. “We can bypass the standard waiting periods.”

On the security feed in the corner of my screen, Brent stood up and walked toward the kitchen.

He opened the refrigerator, pulled out a bottle of white wine, and uncorked it.

“He’s drinking my Pinot Grigio,” I muttered.

“Let him drink the whole bottle,” Jennifer said. “By Thursday morning, those locks will be changed by a commercial locksmith, and the deed will belong to someone else.”

“What about Diane and Karen?” I asked, looking down at the text message thread still sitting in my notifications.

The photo of them by the Miami pool was still bright and mocking.

“They told me to have the guest suite dusted for next week,” I said.

“They will be arriving to a house that belongs to a multinational holding company,” Jennifer said.
