“You can’t freeze the mortgage account,” she said. “And you can’t touch the funds. They have already been transferred.”
“Then I’ll file a police report for forgery,” I said.
Ethan stepped between us.
“Sophia, please,” he said. “If you do that, Janice will lose her license. My mother could go to jail.”
“She should have thought about that before she stole my name,” I said.
Linda reached into her purse and pulled out her phone.
“I’m calling Ryan,” she said. “We need to get the paperwork sorted. Sophia, you are being completely unreasonable.”
“I want you to leave,” I said.
“This is my son’s house,” Linda said, planting her feet on the rug. “I will not be thrown out by you.”
“It’s my house,” I said.
“It belongs to both of you,” Linda snapped.
“And since Ethan wants me here, I am staying. We need to discuss how we are going to handle the interest payments.”
She walked past me toward the living room, throwing her coat onto the sofa.
“Ethan,” she called out. “Get the papers from the car. The ones Ryan signed.”
