Evan’s face paled.
He looked at Sloane, whose fingers were now tightly gripping her napkin.

She drew out a stack of printed pages.

Lydia’s phone buzzed in her hand, the screen lighting up her face.
She looked at Evan, then at Sloane, and tapped the screen.
Lydia clicked a button on her phone, and a bright blue light illuminated her face in the dimming dining room.
“This is a message sent yesterday at 2:14 PM from Mr. Hayes to Ms. Pierce,” Lydia said.
She looked down at her screen, her voice flat, devoid of any emotion.
