“They are going to fight this with everything they have.”

The door to my room opened again.

Rachel entered, carrying two paper cups of tea.

She stopped when she saw Sullivan’s face.

“Is everything alright?” she asked, setting the cups on the table.

“We got him,” I said.

Rachel closed her eyes for a moment, her shoulders dropping.

“Thank God,” she said.

She walked over and checked my IV line.

“Your heart rate is too high, Natalie,” she said gently.

“You need to rest.”

“I can’t rest,” I said. “Not yet.”

I looked at Sullivan.

“What happens now?” I asked.

“The District Attorney will call a grand jury,” Sullivan explained.

“They will indict Ethan and Margaret together.”

“But they will try to separate the cases.”

“Margaret’s defense will claim the oil was an accident.”

“They will say she slipped in the kitchen.”

“And Ethan?” I asked.

“Ethan will claim he had no part in it,” Sullivan said.

“He will say he was trying to protect you by keeping you at the estate.”

“He will say the financial transfers were authorized by you.”
