How a Secret Trust and Kitchen Camera Exposed My Abusive Husband
“He is at the airport,” I said. “The bank alerts just came through.”
Sullivan did not look surprised.
He pulled a chair close to my bed and sat down.
“We know, Natalie,” he said.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black police radio.
The static hummed in the quiet hospital room.
“We have had eyes on him since this afternoon,” Sullivan said.
“Then why isn’t he in jail?” I asked.
My voice trembled with a mixture of fear and anger.
“He managed to slip out of the estate through the woods behind the stables,” Sullivan said.
“He had a rental car waiting two miles away on the county road.”
“He is trying to leave the country,” I said, my heart pounding against my ribs.
“He tried to empty the primary trust.”
Sullivan nodded slowly.
“He did,” the detective said. “But your lawyer did her job.”
“The freeze went into effect at midnight.”
A sudden burst of static erupted from the radio in Sullivan’s hand.
“Sullivan,” a sharp voice called through the speaker. “We have eyes on the target.”
