How a Nine Minute Lie Exposed a Wealthy Family and Saved a Child
Our attorney, Sarah Jenkins, was waiting for us near the security checkpoint.
She looked tired, her dark hair pulled back into a tight bun.
“Did you get the file I sent?” Sarah asked as we walked through the metal detector.
“We got something else,” Nathan said, handing her my phone. “Watch this.”
Sarah stopped in the middle of the hallway, ignoring the lawyers and deputies brushing past us.
She played the video, her eyes widening as she watched Grant hand the envelope to Mrs. Gable.
“This is incredible,” Sarah whispered. “But we can’t just present this immediately.”
“Why not?” I asked, my voice rising in panic. “It proves he set me up.”
“We don’t know who recorded this, and we don’t have the original source file yet,” Sarah explained.
“If we try to enter it without authentication, Grant’s lawyer will have it thrown out.”
“We have to wait for the right moment to introduce it,” she said.
The heavy double doors of Courtroom 3B opened, and a bailiff stepped out.
“Carter and Whitmore,” the bailiff called out.
Nathan put his hand on the small of my back, guiding me forward.
