“This is the corporate resolution passed by the board of Hayes Enterprises two hours ago,” I said.

“Preston Hayes has been stripped of all executive authority and signing privileges.”

“You can’t do that,” Preston said. “The board requires a majority vote.”

“I hold my father’s shares now,” I said. “And I have your power of attorney.”

“You signed it over to me when we established the trust five years ago.”

Preston’s jaw tightened, a small muscle twitching near his ear.

“The charter plane was paid for with a corporate card,” I said.

“That card has been deactivated.”

“And the funds used to secure the flight are corporate property,” Agent Miller added.

“That constitutes interstate transportation of stolen property, Mr. Hayes.”

Samantha looked from Preston to the federal agents.

“Stolen property?” she whispered. “Preston, you said this was our personal account.”

“I told you to be quiet,” Preston said, his teeth clenched.

Agent Miller stepped between them.

“Samantha Mercer,” Miller said, pulling a folded document from his jacket.

“I have a warrant for your arrest as an accessory to corporate fraud and tax evasion.”
