The blue light of the screen reflected in his eyes.

“This is a domestic dispute,” Grant said, his voice tight.

“The board does not need to concern itself with my personal life.”

“It becomes our concern when fifty million dollars vanishes from our reserve,” Mr. Vance said.

He picked up the document Margaret had thrown down.

He read it quickly, his eyes moving back and forth behind his thick lenses.

“Grant, is this transfer authorized by the treasury department?” Mr. Vance asked.

Grant did not answer immediately.

He tapped his fingers on the back of his leather chair.

“It was a restructuring move,” Grant said.

“To protect our assets from a hostile takeover.”
